Why I am not a Christian

In our universe there needs to be balance. It's the same for religion, you need good and bad, heaven and hell. In everyday life we make choices, part of what helps us to choose is the consequences of those choices. The main thing that separates us is our ability to choose. If we choose to do good we will be rewarded, if we choose to do bad we will be punished. The thing that seems to be missing in all of the articles is the forgiveness factor. The gift of forgiveness is a huge part of the concept. We can be forgiven for so many things, by recognizing our mistakes and asking for forgiveness we set ourselves apart from other species.
In this article Mr. Russell seems to believe in many things about religion, but he doesn't seem to believe it is something outside of us, instead he believes it comes from inside and that organized religion actually hinders us by keeping us from advancing. He believes that we need to stand for ourselves and that we should strive to make the world better than it is.
